Spice up Miami

With the summer winding down, the heat is still on with the area’s spiciest, most anticipated gastronomic event, Miami Spice returning. The event kicks off August 1st and runs through the end of September with specialty menus featuring with three-course meals priced at $23 for lunch and $39 for dinner. You really, truly will never find such delectable bites at these prices any other time of the year!

Red, the Steakhouse

Executive Chef Peter Vauthy never disappoints, and he throws out all the stops during Miami Spice at Red. Usually creating a weekly menu with a different theme, this year Vauthy invites guests to try four weekly menus of steakhouse favorites, with an Asian, Spanish, Italian, and classic spin on each. Some of our favorites include the mushroom cannelloni, mussels with chorizo cream, Yakatori-style chicken breast, and no matter which menu you’re munching on, the steak is always to die for — perfectly cooked and bursting with juicy flavor.

Khong River House

For some Asian flair, the brains behind 50 Eggs have launched the Khong River House and are on board with Miami Spice. For lunch, keep it light with northern Pad Thai noodles or flash-fried, salt and pepper squid salad, finishing off the meal with sweet Thai sticky rice and mango. For dinner, start off with Burmese fresh noodle wraps, followed by a choice of either Chinese pork fried rice or grilled green curry salmon, then a dessert of Khong salad. And that’s only for the month of August — come September they’re mixing it up again!

Trapiche Room

Whether you’re looking for a romantic date or a spot to impress a client during a lunch meeting, the restuarant at the JW Marriott downtown has got your back. For lunch, some of Executive Chef Daniel Goldich’s stand outs include the grilled octopus salad, grilled rosemary-scented skirt steak, and Limoncello ricotta cheese cake. With only 24 seats in the evening hours, the dining room is more intimate. For dinner check out the speck-wrapped shrimp, herb-crusted seared scallop, grilled, braised lamb shank ravioli, and espresso creme brulee. Lunch menus are available Monday through Friday and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.

Villa Azur

The beautiful venue is bringing southern French cuisine to the forefront in its Miami Spice menu, featuring the creations of Chef Erwin Mallet and pastry Chef Sébastien Feneyrol. Appetizers kick off with a choice of salmon tartare Villa Azur style or a beet and goat Cheese Mille-Feuille. For the main course, it’s a tough choice between the roasted red snapper or a lamb chop. For dessert, a sweet lime and raspberry eclair brings together sweet and tart flavors. Menus are served from 6:30 p.m. until close every day, except Thursday.
